Следующее воскресенье – Прощеное воскресенье.

На наших богослужения и в субботу 16 марта и в воскресенье 17 нашу молитву разделит преосвященный Иероним, епископ Манхэттенский, викарий митрополита Илариона.

Св. Киприан Карфагенский, живший в четвертом веке, писал, что без епископа нет Церкви. Епископ является духовным и административным главой епархии (церковной области), и все священники и диаконы непосредственно подчиняются своему епископу. Он дает благословение на открытие Приходов и освящает храмы. Он имеет власть рукополагать священников и диаконов, а также их судить и запрещать. К епископу мы обращаемся за разрешением трудных вопросов, касающихся всех сторон церковной жизни. От имени своего епископа священник совершает богослужения, и поэтому всегда на богослужениях возносится молитва о своем епископе.

Так как наш епархиальный архиерей – Первоиерарх Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей, митрополит Иларион, бывает очень занят важными церковными вопросами, то у него есть два викарных Епископа, т.е. помощника в архиерейском сане, епископ Иероним и епископ Георгий. (Святейший Патриарх Кирилл, Перивоиерарх всей Русской Православной Церкви, имеет около 15 викарных архиереев, помогающих Предстоятелю РПЦ руководить Московской епархией.)

Для любого прихода посещение епископа – большое и радостное событие, и мы очень рады принять епископа Иеронима. Тем более в такое знаменательное воскресенье, как Прощенное Воскресенье.

Всенощное Бдение будет в субботу 16 марта в 18 часов, а встреча архиерея, в воскресенье 17-го в 9:30 утра. Сразу после Литургии будет Вечерня с чином прощения, которую тоже возглавит епископ Иероним.

Встретим же достойно дорогого Владыку, и придем в храм до начала богослужения!

Next Sunday - Forgiveness Sunday.

On Saturday 16 March and Sunday 17th His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, Vicar of Metropolitan Hilarion will lead our services prayer.

A Bishop - is a prince of the Church; of St. Cyprian of Carthage, who lived in the fourth century, wrote that there is no Church without the bishops. The bishop is the spiritual and administrative head of the Diocese, and all the priests and deacons are directly accountable to their bishop. He blesses the opening of a parish and consecrates churches. He has the power to ordain priests and deacons, to support them, and also to judge them and to forbid them from serving. We ask the Bishop for clarification of difficult issues in all aspects of church life. The priests conduct services on behalf of the bishop, and therefore all priests commemorate their ruling bishop at every service.

Since our diocesan bishop is the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, our beloved Metropolitan Hilarion, and he is very busy with very important church wide. Therefore, the Metropolitan has two vicar bishops, that is, assistant bishops: Bishop Jerome and Bishop George. In comparison, His Holiness, the Patricarch of Russia, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, has over 15 vicar metropolitans, archbishops and bishops, who all help His Holiness leading the Diocese of Moscow.

The visit of a bishop – is a joyful event for any parish, and we are very pleased to welcome Bishop Jerome, especially for such a service as the Forgiveness Sunday.

Vigil will be on Saturday March 16 at 6 pm, and the meeting of the bishop on Sunday the 17th at 9:30 AM. Immediately after the Liturgy the Forgivenes Vespers will be served, also with Bishop Jerome officiating.

Let's meet our Vladyka, and arrive to the church before the service begins, so we can welcome the bishop!
